Krill
Krill are a key component of the Antarctic food chain but usually one rarely sees them despite the estimates that some bays around the Peninsula hold literally millions of tonnes of these tiny creatures. Occasionally, however, they do seem to wash up on beaches and this shot was taken inside the caldera of Deception Island, Antarctica's only 'drive in' volcano !!
