Leopard Seal
Along with the Orca (Killer Whale), the Leopard Seal is one of the top predators in Antarctica. These substantial predators which can be up to 3.5 metres (11 feet) long have quite a varied diet, however, in the late summer, a significant number specialise on penguins and in February, for example, it is a not uncommon sight to see the gory spectacle of a penguin being killed and eaten.
